Pokémon Johto Sega:
Main Characters:
Ash Ketchum
Brock
Misty
Rivels:
Gary Oak/Ash's first rival thought out the Kanto and Johto League
Harrison/Ash's friend and rivel during the Johto League.

In episode 177 Ash, Misty, and Brock are headed for New Bark Town where they hope to get registered for the Johto League. Lost, Misty blames Ash for walking in circles. Brock tries to break the two up, but it only creates more controversy. Amongst the arguing, Pikachu and Togepi wander off to see a Suicune stationed at a nearby lake. The gang closely follows as they all witness this rare sight, but after spotting Ash, the Suicune flees. Running after it, the group trips as they stumble down a steep hill.
Meanwhile, Jessie, James, and Meowth have just found their way out of the same forest. Desperate for food, they come across what seems like a Pokémon University. After giving it some thought, Jessie realizes that they must have some kind of cafeteria inside. Hearing somebody enter his lab, the preoccupied Professor Elm mistakes Jessie for Nurse Joy and tells her to check up on his Totodile. Naturally, Team Rocket steals it and runs off.
Ash finally reaches New Bark Town and runs off to face the Johto League. Brock reminds him that he has to register at the Pokémon Center first. Anxious to see Nurse Joy, Brock is confronted her Chansey instead. Disappointed, Brock's attention is drawn to a monitor stating that Joy is with Professor Elm, and she'll return at 2:00. Misty notes that it's already 3:30, so Brock gets a little concerned. Believing that something must be wrong, he forces group to set off and find her. Reaching Elm Laboratory, which is now swarming with police, Brock flirts with the local Officer Jenny. As usual, Misty drags him away. Inside, Ash and the others see Nurse Joy scolding at Elm for being careless.
Jenny tells Ash that the Totodile is supposed to belong to a trainer that's starting her Pokémon journey tomorrow. Elm explains that in New Bark Town you can choose from a Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile. Ash says that from where he hails from trainers can start with a Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. Elm realizes that Ash must be from Pallet Town, and he most likely knows Professor Oak. Ash complies, and asks Elm if he's ever met him. Shocked, Elm explains that he was one of Oak's best students, and in a way, he's his biggest rival. Instead on focusing on the study of human and Pokémon relationships, Elm concentrates on Pokémon evolution. Ash tells Joy that he has to register for the Johto League, and she apologizes for not being back at the PokéCenter on time. Ash tells her that it's okay because he knows how exciting it is to get your first Pokémon, and that's why he'll help Jenny find the culprits. One of the officers comes up to Jenny and reports that they made a plaster case of some footprints outside of the lab. At the same time, Team Rocket runs down the street panicking as Totodile has attached itself to Jessie's hair with it's mouth.
Using the scent from the plaster case, Jenny's Growlithe picks detects Team Rocket and closes in on their position. Meanwhile, Jessie tries to detach the Totodile from of her hair, but she has no luck. Meowth decides that he'll make the call to tell the boss about their new discovery, but Jessie stops him because she knows that Meowth's nature is to take all the credit. As Jessie and Meowth argue, James casually walks past them and starts to make the call. James forgets the boss's area code, so he asks Jessie and Meowth for it. They start beating on James as well.
Growlithe finds Team Rocket, and Jenny declares that they're all under arrest. Team Rocket tries to flee, but Ash summons Bulbasaur to stop them. It uses Vine Whip, tripping Team Rocket. James sends out Weezing to use a Smokescreen attack, but it's stopped short when Ash's Charizard uses its wings to blow the smog away. Bulbasaur then uses Vine Whip to pull Totodile off of Jessie's hair. Jenny then tells Growlithe to attack, but Weezing uses Sludge and Growlithe is disabled. Seeing that they have the advantage, James quickly dispatches Victreebel. As usual, it attacks James instead of its target. Lickitung is next to come out, but Ash commands Squirtle to use Water Gun. It connects. Jessie then accompanies Lickitung, Weezing, and Victreebel with Arbok as they attack simultaneously. Fighting fire with fire, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Pikachu, and Squirtle combine their attacks, which creates a gigantic explosion, blasting Team Rocket's Pokémon over the horizon. As the smoke clears, Jessie and James are terrified. Totodile steps in and releases a Water Gun, sending Team Rocket through the stars.
Back in the PokéCenter, Ash gives Oak a phone call reporting his discoveries. Elm takes over the conversation and has a very long chat. Totodile walks away from Elm, and goes up to Nurse Joy to be held. She reminds Ash that he has to get registered for the Johto League, so she leads him to another room. Joy takes Ash's new Pokédex and slips it into a machine. After doing some typing, Joy is done. Ash, now eligible for the Johto League, thanks Joy as she gives him the Johto League Guide Book. Misty asks how many badges Ash needs to compete, and Joy tells her that he needs eight. She suggests that the best place to start is the first gym in Violet City. Excited, Ash swears that he'll catch up with Gary.
As Ash takes a look back at New Bark Town, he waves goodbye to Elm, Joy, and Jenny as he heads for his next big adventure. Elm tells Totodile that tomorrow he'll meet a new trainer and they'll become best friends just like Ash and Pikachu are. The gang walks away, with Jigglypuff in close pursuit.

In Episode 118 Ash, Brock, and Misty are on the trail again to new adventures. On their way to the Johto League, they notice a girl hollering ather Pokémon. The girl is calling out baseball plays and moves to her Chikorita. Brock suggests that she probably just got her Pokémon from Proffesor Elm and that she just started on her Pokémon journies. While Ash, Brock, and Misty observe this little girl, a Rattata appears out of a bush and battles Chikorita. Chikorita launches a tackle at Rattata, but it misses. Then the girl tells Chikorita to use a line drive (tackle) on Rattata. Rattata gets knocked unconsious and the girl captures it. The girl starts chanting a victory song about the Electabuzz. As she puts her newly captured Pokémon away, she spots Ash, Brock, and Misty.
Ash, Brock, and Misty are scared and so is the little girl. The little girl charges at them and grabs Pikachu from Ash's shoulder. She squeezes Pikachu and says that she wants to have all yellow-striped Pokémon: Electabuzz, Raichu, and Beedril. She says her name is Casey. Casey is so enthusiastic about this Pikachu that she wants Pikachu to shock her. Ash tries to stop Pikachu from shocking her, but Pikachu shocks both Ash and Casey. Ash asks Casey why she is obsessed with the color yellow and black stripes. Casey explains to Ash that her family has been rooting for the Electabuzz baseball teams for generations and generations. Ash makes fun of Casey saying that the Electabuzz team sucks and it never wins one game. Casey does not belive that the Electabuzz team sucks because they try their best and never give up. Ash and Casey keep on arguing and lead up to a Pokémon battle.
Casey declares that the much should be 3 on 3. Casey first sends out Pidgey. Ash remembers the time when he first met Pidgey, but he sends out Charizard to kill Pidgey. Pidgey uses quick attack, but he bounces off Charizard's stomach and dies. Casey then sends out Rattata, and he uses a tackle but also bounces off Charizards stomach and dies. Casey then uses her last Pokémon, Chikorita. Chikorita gets Charizard in a bind around his neck with a vine wip. Ash tells Charizard to blow just a little bit of fire at Chikorita. The fire that Charizard blew produced a little flame on top of Chikorita. Chikorita faints. Casey begins to cry, but Ash goes toward Casey and offers to shake hands and be friends. Casey is about to shake Ash's hand, but she runs away crying.
Casey keeps on running on a path and trips over a rock. She begins to remember what her family told her when she left to become a Pokémon trainer. The family said that now they have something else to root for more than Electabuzz, Casey. The family also said that Casey should never give up and she should always try her best and make her family proud. Casey gets off the ground and says she will defeat Ash. Suddenly Team Rocket, dressed as Electabuzz fans, jumps out of the bushes and tells Casey that Ash cheated. The explained that he cheated by using a Charizard against a new trainer, which is strictly forbiddoned. Casey gets mad and challenges Ash to another battle.
This time the battle is on a baseball field. Team Rocket is in the scoardboard rooting Casey on. Team Rocket made electronic fans to cheer Casey on also. Casey uses Chikorita and Ash uses Pikachu. Chikorita uses a tackle and knocks Pikachu down. Ash tries to use thunderbolt against Chikorita, but Chikorita evades the attack. Casey tells Ash that he cheated and that he deserves to lose. Almost suddenly, a machine with a bat pops out of the ground and is winding up to hit Chikorita. Pikachu jumps in the way and Pikachu and Chikorita go flying toward the scoreboard where Team Rocket is. Team Rocket sends a wave of baseballs at Ash and Casey to stall them form getting Pikachu and Chikorita back. The balls hit Ash and he is beat to the ground. Casey wips out a bat and starts wacking at all the balls. After all the balls are gone Ash sends out Squirtle and Bulbasaur while Casey sends out Rattata and Pidgey. Bulbasaur and Squirtle launch the balls back at Team Rocket, which knocks them out of their senses. Rattata and Pidgey use tackle to knock Pikachu and Chikorita out of their hands. Seeing the perfect oppurtunity to attack Team Rocket, Chikorita uses razor leaf. Team Rocket's clothes get all cut up. Then Chikorita and Pikachu use double team attack and make Team Rocket blast off again.
Casey and Ash shake hands to become friends for life. They say their goodbyes and wish luck to each other. Both are hoping they see the other in the Johto League. Friends forever.

In Episode 119 Ash, Misty and Brock are walking along the path, they notice that the whole forest is green except for a couple of trees that are totally bare. Brock mentions that the trees do not seem to be burnt and it is not fall yet and begins to think something is amiss. Further down, Ash sees a group of Heracross eating sap out of a tree. Using his Pokedex, Ash learns that Heracross possesses great strength and power and loves to eat sap, and as such, decides to capture them.
Out of nowhere, a stranger emerges from the forest and introduces himself as Woodruff, a Pokémon ranger. Woodruff, although not stopping Ash from catching the Heracross, warns him that if he were to proceed, he would cause a great deal of damage. Ash, a little confused, thought he would be doing the forest a favour as the Heracross are sucking all the sap from the trees and are destroying the forest. A flock of Butterfree then appear to join the Heracross in eating the sap from the trees. Apparently, the Butterfree rely on the Heracross to penetrate the tree to release the sap. The Butterfree then eat whatever Heracross leaves. Ash then realises that by catching the Heracross he would destroy Butterfree’s food source. A little mystified our heroes wonder what is destroying the forest. Woodruff says that the balance has been destroyed by a group of invaders. Just as Woodruff finishes, Pikachu senses something and a large number of Pinsirs emerge from the forest.
The invaders scare off the Butterfree and begin to eat the sap. Ash and Misty try and convince the Heracross to fight, and it seems like their speech had worked as the Heracross begin to fly at the invaders. The Pinsir respond by moving their spiked horns and looking really mean. The Heracross, frightened, quickly fly off in the opposite direction. Woodruff explains that although they could win, they are peaceful and friendly and prefer to just fly away. Our heroes then notice that there still remains one Heracross that appears to be protecting a Butterfree. Ash calls upon Bulbasaur who uses his vine whip attack to knock the Pinsirs off the tree. Although vine whip was successful, the Pinsirs recover quickly and jump back onto the tree. Pikachu then uses his thunderbolt attack and the Pinsirs then attack our friends. Pikachu uses his thunder attack again and the Pinsirs flee back into the dense forest. Heracross then tries to suck the pollen out of Bulbasaur’s bulb (this is very funny). Bulbasaur, using his vine whip, sends Heracross flying.
Woodruff says that the Pinsir live on the other side of the river in another forest. Why they are coming here remains a mystery. Misty then mentions that they should go (remember Misty finds bug Pokémon “creepy”) but Brock and Ash want to help. So our friends head off towards the Pinsir’s forest and it appears as though Heracross has decided to tag along. Upon arriving at a deep canyon separating the two forests, Woodruff leads them to a bridge, which appears to have been destroyed. While our friends figure out a way to cross the canyon, Heracross appears and pushes over a large tree to create a path across the canyon. Our friends continue their journey into the forest and Woodruff leads them to the largest tree – Pinsir’s home. At the top of the tree Ash notices an extremely large Pinsir. Woodruff realises that it is not a Pinsir but rather a robot Pinsir, as there are two large tanks on its back. Team Rocket then emerge and launch into their infamous motto. Meowth explains that as they were walking through the forest, starving, he smelt something sweet (even though he has no nose). Jessie and James follow Meowth to the source of the sweet odour, which just happens to be sap coming out of a tree. Meowth tastes it and finds that he likes it. Jessie and James try as well as they too are starving and they also find the taste to their liking. Team Rocket decides to suck all the sap out of all the trees, bottle it and sell it at supermarkets, making them filthy rich.
Realising that Team Rocket is destroying the balance of nature, Ash gets into his fighting pose. Jessie and James call upon Lickitung and Victreebel but neither of them wishes to fight but rather eat the sap coming from the tree. James actually ran and hid in the forest thinking that once releasing Victreebel it would attack him (very funny). Meowth attacks with his robot Pinsir, which is controlled via a remote control. Bulbasaur attacks with razor leaf but it is ineffective against Pinsir’s steel body. Bulbasaur tries vine whip and sends the robot Pinsir into a spin. Pikachu then uses thunderbolt but the robot Pinsir uses the electric shock to recharge its batteries and shock our friends. Ash, Mist and Brock appear to be in trouble as the robot Pinsir is about to crush them. However, Heracross stops the robot Pinsir, but it fights back by pushing Heracross backwards. Meanwhile, our friends have recovered and Ash and Misty cheer on Heracross. While Heracross and the robot Pinsir continue to battle, Ash and Woodruff remove the two large tanks from Pinsir’s back. Team Rocket then fight over the remote control, destroying it (as they usually do). Heracross lifts the robot Pinsir into the air and tosses him straight up … to everyone’s amazement. The robot Pinsir lands on Team Rocket and explodes, sending Team Rocket flying.
Now that the robot Pinsir has been destroyed, the Pinsirs return to their home and the balance is restored. Brock, Misty and Ash say their goodbyes to their new friends and upon heading towards Violet city, Pikachu notices that Heracross is still following them. It appears as though Heracross wants to join our heroes, so Ash catches Heracross and says “Heracross chose me”.
Narrator: Now Ash, Misty and Brock continue their journey with a new addition to their circle of very special friend.

In Episode 120 Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu approach a cliff where the view of the surrounding area is astounding. However, the serenity is interrupted by a rockslide. Team Rocket, on top of the mountain, recovers from the earthquake, only to find the rock below them crumble. As they fall through the forest below, they get entangled in vines, followed by a giant boulder crashing down on them.
Ash sees a Donphan eating some shrubbery. As he checks his Pokédex, we learn that the length of a Donphan’s tusks tell us what level it is. Ash begins to capture it, but Brock stops him saying that he should be its trainer because it’s only an infant, and only an experienced breeder should take care of it. They begin to argue, but Misty breaks them up saying that the Donphan is getting away. Brock calls out his Onix, who is defeated when Donphan uses Rollout. Ash takes over, and sends out Heracross. It uses Tackle. Donphan retaliates with another Rollout, but Heracross counterstrikes it with a Horn attack. As Ash finishes it off, a woman stops the battle claming that the Donphan is hers. She threatens to turn Ash into Jenny, but he declares innocence telling her that he thought it was wild. Ash turns to Brock for help, but he has already introduced himself to her. Asking for the woman’s name, the she tells him that she’s Rochelle. Brock notices the jewel on her necklace, and Rochelle tells him that it’s made of amberite, a gemstone worn by royalty. Rochelle tells Ash to not capture any more of her Donphan, and begins to walk away. Ash challenges her to a battle, but she declines telling him that her Donphan has fought enough for today. Ash then asks if they can battle tomorrow, but Rochelle is already on her way.
Disguised as forest rangers, Team Rocket plans to dig for amberite, and with their costumes, they’ll be less conspicuous. James asks where they should start, and Meowth tells him that he overheard two people saying that one sure way to find amberite is to have a Donphan sniff it out. With their objective clear, they set off to find a Donphan.
Rochelle starts to train her Donphan to sniff for amberite in a nearby stream. Team Rocket interrupts them and captures the Pokémon using a net. They get away in their balloon, and land in a crater not far from the river. Fanning herself, Jessie compliments Meowth telling him how smart he is. James asks why she has a fan, and Jessie replies telling him it’s for all the hot air. Meowth commands Donphan to start searching for the amberite, but it refuses. James then tries to coddle it with affection by giving it a snack, making Donphan happy.
Ash and the others run into Rochelle looking for her lost Donphan. She tells them what happened, and tells Ash that the people who took it were dressed in orange jumpsuits and included in the team was a guy, a girl, and one talking Meowth. Meanwhile, Donphan, still eating its lunch, makes Jessie impatient. James tells her to calm down and asks Donphan to start looking for the amberite. Donphan complies and gets to work. It stops at a spot nearby as Team Rocket digs.
Brock’s Zubat fails to find the lost Pokémon, so instead Rochelle blows a whistle and a herd of Donphan reports in. Brock tells Rochelle that training them to respond to the whistle is impressive, but asks why the missing one didn’t come. She explains that that one was her youngest, so she didn’t have enough time to train it yet. Rochelle turns to her Donphan and commands them to search for the missing one.
Tired from digging, Team Rocket is left with no amberite. Suddenly, Rochelle’s herd of Donphan approach and Ash and the others find Team Rocket. Brock demands that they return Donphan, but Meowth refuses to give it back until it can find some amberite. Jessie sends out Arbok while James sends out Victreebel to stop the trio. Brock calls out Onix, Binding Victreebel before it was able to use Tackle. However, Victreebel releases Sleep Powder, knocking Onix out. Misty and Ash send out Poliwag and Heracross. Misty tells Poliwag to use Double Slap, followed by Bubble. Victreebel faints and collapses on James and Meowth. Heracross uses Tackle on Arbok, and it’s sent flying into Jessie. Heracross then throws Team Rocket into their balloon with its horn, and Pikachu finishes them off with Thunderbolt. Team Rocket disappears.
Rochelle thanks the group for saving her Donphan. Misty, wondering why Donphan couldn’t find any amberite for Team Rocket, finds out that it wasn’t experienced enough to be able to sniff it out. Rochelle offers to show the team a demonstration of how Donphan find amberite. She uses her oldest and most experienced Donphan, and after a few moments, it rams into a wall, creating several small shocks. Misty realizes that that must’ve been the cause of the rockslides they had earlier. A large piece of amberite falls from the cliff and shatters. Rochelle picks up a piece and shows them what it looks like. Brock asks what she does with the amberite, and Rochelle tells them that she supplies the local artists and craftspeople with the precious gem. Rochelle asks Ash if she could do anything to pay him back for what he did, and he tells her that he would like a battle. She complies, and Ash challenges Rochelle’s large Donphan.
Ash sends out Heracross while Rochelle’s Donphan starts immediately with Tackle. Heracross is able to stop the attack with Endure, and it throws the Donphan through the air. It manages to land on its feet and recover from the fall. Rochelle orders it to use Rollout, sending Heracross to a tree. It takes a short snack on the tree, and after it’s done, jumps back down ready for battle. Donphan uses Tackle, but Heracross blocks it and tries to throw Donphan in the air. It turns the fall into a Rollout and finishes Heracross off with a final Tackle. Ash tells Heracross that he did a great job, and Rochelle tells Ash that he and Heracross are a good team. As the gang departs, Brock leaves with tears in his eyes. Rochelle waves them goodbye, as they head into the sunse.

In Episode 121 Our friends appear to be lost in the middle of a spooky forest. All of a sudden, eerie sounds begin to overcome our distraught friends. As the sounds continue to haunt our heroes, they begin to slowly creep away from were they seem to be emanating from. Stumbling into a tree, the turn around quickly to find a Halloween style face upon the trunk of the tree. Scared beyond belief, they run quickly to another part of the forest. As they are running away, an owl like Pokémon shoots a red blaze out of its two huge eyes, quickly destroying all the things that spooked our friends.
A little bewildered, our friends stop to catch their breath. Gary Oak then walks into view, congratulates Hoothoot on a job well done, and tells Ash that everything they saw and heard was an illusion. Ash consults his Pokédex to find out more about this new Pokémon. “Hoothoot. The owl Pokémon. Hoothoot stands on one leg but uses both its powerful eyes to see clearly, even through the darkest night.” Gary, in a superior fashion, then mocks Ash about being unprepared and advises him to get a Hoothoot if he wishes to make his way out of this forest. Misty, a little confused, asks Gary why he is still in the forest if he has a Hoothoot (you tell him Misty!!!). Gary, a little stunned by Misty’s observation, says that he has been busy catching Pokémon and lost track of time.
Upon Gary’s departure, Ash, Misty and Brock begin to search for a Hoothoot but their efforts seem to be in vain. Suddenly, a Hoothoot appears at Misty’s feet. A little frightened she gracefully sidesteps away from Hoothoot but it keeps following her. Ash tries to say hello but instead, Hoothoot attacks him and then runs off. Our friends give chase and Ash instructs Pikachu to use his thunderbolt attack. But before Pikachu has a chance to do anything, Hoothoot turns around and attacks Ash by again. Hoothoot then stops and runs to stand by its master. Brock, convinced it is an illusion, walks up to it and says, “Have you ever seen anything this scary in your dreams”. Ash, standing on the other side of this so-called illusion responds, “Guess not, something like that ugly only shows up in my nightmares.” Of course, to the amazement of our friends the illusion is real and her name is Hagatha.
Leading our friends back to her house, she advises them that they will need her help if they wish to safely get out of the forest. Apparently, Hagatha rents out her Hoothoot to travelers through the forest as they have the ability to help you pass mischievous Pokémon and those ghostly things they make you see. Unfortunately, she has only one left and it has never guided a single traveler safe through the forest. Having to wait until tomorrow for a Hoothoot to become available, Ash becomes a little impatient and picks up Hoothoot and advises all our friends that all it needs is a good trainer like himself. Hoothoot attacks Ash again and jumps onto Misty’s lap. Hagatha then explains that since she trained it, it only gets along with pretty girls!!!
As Ash, Misty and Brock continue their journey, they return to the place where the illusions first began. Hoothoot begins trembling and out of nowhere, little blue, fiery balls float around their heads. They react by waving their hands violently about to try and get rid off them but to no avail. Hoothoot, still scared, attempts to fight the illusions but is unsuccessful and is scared off. Upon reaching safety, Ash gives Hoothoot a serious talk about being a Pokémon and not giving up. Misty, feeling sorry for Hoothoot pleads with him to at least try next time, not only for them but also for himself. A rope then gradually makes its way around Pikachu, grabbing him and lifting him up into the tree above. Ash jumps ands grabs hold of Pikachu and is also pulled up into the tree. Team Rocket, after announcing their arrival, slams Ash into a tree and he falls to the ground. Team Rocket then escape via a boat tied to a rope between two trees, but the rope snaps and Pikachu falls into Ash’s awaiting arms. Arbok and Victreebel are instructed to attack, but again Victreebel attacks James instead. Ash calls upon Bulbasaur but before he could do anything, Hoothoot begins to go crazy as he did before. Out of the blue, a Dragonite appears and Team Rocket gives chase. Of course, Ash, Misty and Brock couldn’t see anything and are a little stunned by Team Rocket’s behaviour.
Before our friends have a chance to figure out what is going on, Ash begins appearing everywhere. Wondering which one is the real one, they all being arguing among themselves. Pikachu, very confused responds by shocking them all and eventually the real Ash falls to the ground. A number of different bug Pokémon then begin attacking Misty. Hoothoot runs away but Ash stops him and gives him a good talking too. Hoothoot turns around and sees Misty in a great deal of distress and fires a huge red blaze right around the forest and destroys all of the illusions. As Hoothoot continues to use his powerful eyes, a number of Haunter and Gengar emerge. Bulbasaur uses vine whip and then Pikachu uses his thunderbolt to frighten off all the ghost Pokémon. Ash, Brock and Misty eventually make their way to the edge of the forest but it appears as though Hagatha is walking towards them and they wonder if they are still lost. But as it turns out, the figure walking towards them was not Hagatha, but rather her twin sister Agatha.
Meanwhile. Team Rocket appears to be lying on a beach soaking up the sun’s rays. What they do not realise is that it is all an illusion and they are really lying in the middle of the forest.
